College Freshman Year Sucks

Written and Performed by Rob Nash
Presented by the VORTEX

Ben George and Johnny tackle the University of Texas in Rob Nash’s new epic hilarious dramatic comedy. College Freshman Year Sucks! forerunner, Holy Cross Sucks!, received rave reviews from 17 New York periodicals including The New York Times and was awarded Time Out New York’s Top Ten Broadway/off-Broadway shows of 2005!

Set against the background of 1985-86—an era of horrible politics and awesome pop culture-- this hilarious brand new episode (Number 7 in the Holy Cross Sucks! Quadrilogy) features some of our favorite characters facing new dilemmas: Johnny goes to jail, George threatens his step-mother Julie Rose with a paternity suit over their love child, Chuckie; and Ben gets the new breakthrough Elisa test for HIV after a violent date rape.

College Freshman Year Sucks! is Rob’s 18th solo play (15 of which were birthed at The VORTEX). 2007 marks Rob’s 20th year in standup, 15th year in playwriting and his 10th year with his Holy Cross Sucks! heroes, Ben, George and Johnny.

Come see the rest of the gang from Holy Cross tackle Austin Texas: Norman Normal, his evil cousin, Truman Normal, Maria, Jenny, Julie Rose and Chuckie, Chad Evans, Fr. Sobosinski. Also meet Ben’s new sister Dustin and George’s new Lamda Chi brother Danny.
