Conversations at a Bathhouse Can Be Tricky

A full-length mostly solo show choreographed and performed by Jim Chappeleaux (the artist formerly known as C¹eaux). The show borrows from many artistic disciplines ­ dance, theatre, music, and photography. Conversations at a Bathhouse Can Be Tricky is a multi-disciplined performance experience, also known as performance art. Conversations at a Bathhouse Can Be Tricky is a scandalous, humor-filled romp through sex education. Do you like sex? Do you like nudity? Do you like gay subject material? This show contains nudity, adult situations, gorgeous guys, and bathhouse humor. Conversations at a Bathhouse Can Be Tricky details the politics of being queer in America, coming out to parents (his anyway) and sexual experiences ­ including a homo-history of sex ­ if you want to learn what all those hanky codes mean, then this is the show for you!

The September 19 opening night performance of Conversations will be a benefit performance for The Wright House Wellness Center. Since 1988, The Wright House Wellness Center (formerly the HIV Wellness Center) has been improving the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and hepatitis C through holistic therapies, education and compassion. Their complimentary health therapies provide hope and relief to those facing the struggles of chronic illness in Austin (Travis County) and nine surrounding counties. The Wright House is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization and a United Way Partner Agency.

Jim Chappeleaux's work has been seen in Atlanta, GA, Santa Monica, CA, Seattle, WA, Louisville, KY, Houston and San Antonio, TX, and Albuquerque, NM. He also has performed in New York, NY and Berlin, Germany. He created and directed the Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Arts Festival for 8 years. He was recently nominated for an Austin Critics' Table Award for dance.
